Along Sicily's coast, the air smells of lemons, oranges and mandarins, while going up the higher grounds, there are cherry trees, olive groves and vineyards. In the southwest side of the Etna volcano, among the black lava soils, there are a blaze of prickly pear, peach, pistachio and pear trees. Among the typical products of certified quality are Sicilian Tarocco Red Orange IGP, Etna Mastrantonio Cherry, Etna Prickly Pear DOP and Bronte Pistachio DOP. There are apple orchards, hazelnut and chestnut woods growing in the east and north areas of Etna. Fruit juices, jams, dried fruits and spreadable creams are obtained from these products.
